At my core, I am a poet; and like lines in a stanza or bars in a verse, my ingredients are my opportunity to make something out of nothing.
When I decided that I would craft my poetry into delicious dishes, I was humbled by a good friend of mine who gently reminded me that I was no chef at all unless I had a cast iron skillet. Shortly after that, Cast Iron Shawty came to life.
Equally driven by my need for sustenance and creation, I committed myself to a life that would honor what I eat as well as those with whom I break bread with. The versatility of my cast iron skillet opened many doors for me in the world of cooking. From roasting vegetables and searing steaks to frying chicken and baking cobbler, a single cast iron skillet transported me from destination to destination.
Cooking and eating became more of a ritual than routine. Since 2019 I’ve been eager to put ten thousand hours worth of love and light into my craft. The result has been a healthier me, a supportive village, and a well-fed clientele.
I’m sure you will, but I hope that you enjoy what I have to offer you.
